Music in Subtitles
Because I am hard of hearing, and because Hollywood hasn’t figured out how to make dialogue as loud as explosions (even though DOLBY has been around for half a century), I watched the Epic Finale of Stranger Things (Season 4, Chapter 9 “The Piggyback”) with subtitles. Some surprisingly sloshy sounds:
“Tentacles moistly undulating”
“Tentacles sliver wetly”
“Wet footsteps squelch”
Twenty variations of synthesized (synth) music:
“Somber Synth Music”
“Anxious Synth Music”
“Hopeful Synth Music”
“Sinister Synth Music”
“Mysterious Synth Music”
“Sorrowful Synth Music”
“Epic Synth Music”
“Quirky Synth Music”
“Resolute Synth Music”
“Intense Synth Music”
“Enigmatic Synth Music”
“Dramatic Synth Music”
“Low unnerving Synth Music”
“Eerie Distorted Synth Music”
“Distorted Synth Music”
“Industrial Synth Music”
“Tense Industrial Synth Music”
“Frantic Industrial Synth Music”
“Intense Industrial Synth Music”
“Steady Industrial Synth Music”
And three lines of dialogue between El and Max that (clearly) explain “The Piggyback.”
Max: How did you get here?
El: I piggybacked from the pizza dough freezer.
Max: What‽
Although I wonder what the differences are among Epic, Intense and Dramatic, Eerie Distorted and Distorted, my favorites are the 5 industrial synths! ♥️😃🙃 What are yours?
‽ is an interrobang, a combination exclamation point and question mark.
